More than 900 by 50 kilogram bags of fertilizer worth over 237,000 Kwacha have been stolen at the Ministry of Agriculture Offices in Mambwe District.
Senior assistant commissioner of Police Kennedy Chibwe says three people have been arrested to help with investigations in the matter.
Chibwe told Breeze FM News that Mambwe Senior Agriculture Officer Charles Bwembya reported on August 14th 2020 that the over 900 bags of fertilizer went missing in their storeroom.
Chibwe explains that one of the suspects, Jacob Banda, a worker at the same facility disappeared the day the fertilizer was stolen.
He says police launched a manhunt and managed to arrest Jacob Banda together with two others, Misheck Banda and Douglass Sakala.
He says the three suspects are currently in police custody to help with investigations.
