Nine people are reported dead in Tuesday night’s fatal road traffic accident at Pama Meats in Mazabuka district.
Eyewitness accounts are telling Byta FM News that a northbound Hiace Minibus rammed into a stationary heavy-duty truck with an undisclosed number of passengers around 22:00hours.
Sources at Mazabuka General Hospital have also confirmed receiving nine bodies from the accident – five males and 4 females – whose remains have since been deposited in the mortuary.
The source further disclosed that 12 accident victims are still admitted at Mazabuka General Hospital with serious injuries.
They have also identified the driver of the minibus as 29-year-old Mulenga Mulenga of Kafue.
Southern Province Acting Commanding Police Officer, Alfred Nawa confirmed the accident but promised to issue a comprehensive statement in due course.
