A Homecoming for President HICHILEMA

The president of Zambia, HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, says he wants to see the two billion dollar investment pledge for renewable energy in Zambia quickly put into action.

According to the President, a team is still in the United Arab Emirates working on the implementation plan.

Once the energy deal that was struck yesterday between ZESCO and MASDAR, a significant finance entity of the United Arab Emirates, is implemented, about 2000 megawatts will be added to the national grid.

The two businesses will work together to design and set up huge solar projects all throughout the nation.

President HICHILEMA stated that particular locations are being selected for the construction of the solar power plants when he arrived at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.

According to the President, significant investments made in the energy industry will soon begin to pay off.

Yesterday, ZESCO and MASDAR signed a Joint Development Agreement for investment in renewable energy in front of President HICHILEMA.

For Sustainability Week, the President traveled to the United Arab Emirates.

In the meantime, President HICHILEMA stated that Zambia stands to benefit much from the upcoming visit of IMF Managing Director KRISTALINA GEORGIEVA.
