THE Women’s Christian Fellowship (WCF) of Nsama Consistory, in the Northern Presbytery, has lost 20 members, and THE United Church of Zambia Synod expresses its profound sorrow over this loss.
18 ladies passed away immediately, and two more perished at the Nsumbu facility.
The deceased members perished in a fatal traffic accident that occurred at Chaushi Hill in Nsumbu district, along Nsama Nsumbu road, at around 1:00 this morning, according to a statement from UCZ general secretary Chipasha Musaba.
“The United Church of Zambia Northern Presbytery Bishop, Rev. Maybin Mulenga has confirmed the sad development.Bishop Mulenga said the accident happened after the driver of the Motor Vehicle light canter truck which the mothers boarded lost control and overturned as it was descending the Chaushi Hill, few kilometers from Nsumbu,” Musaba said.
The fifty-eight moms returning from the Consistory Conference, which was held at Munwa in Nsama Consistory over the weekend, were among the deceased WCF members, according to Reverend Musaba.
According to Reverend Musaba, those who survived the accident have now been sent for medical care to the Nsumbu clinic and Mpulungu District hospital.
The bodies of the deceased have already been sent to the mortuary at Mporokoso General Hospital. “The United Church of Zambia is praying for God to give the grieving families comfort across the country,” stated Reverend Musaba.
