Originally scheduled for October 8, the Zambezi Boat Club Regatta will now take place on October 15.
Due to what the organizing committee describes as unanticipated events, the date of the regatta this year has been moved up.
In the prestigious rowing competition, 22 teams, out of a target 32, have so far confirmed their participation, according to Zambezi Boat Club Secretary VINCENT KAMWANYA.
He claims that certain teams, like the Tongabezi, Usi and Chuma, Zambia Police, and Zambia Air Force, among others, have already paid the entry price.
According to him, the sport of rowing entertains the residents of Livingstone and enriches and diversifies the city’s tourism industry.
The final regatta took place in 2019 and was attended by King Lubosi Imwiko II, the Litunga of the Lozi-speaking people.
After King Lewanika’s visit in 1910, the Litunga’s 2019 visit was the second formal appearance of the sitting Litunga to grace an occasion in Livingstone.
