A passenger train struck and killed an unnamed individual in Ndola.
At the Ndeke railway crossing, the accident happened on Friday of last week about 2:00 a.m.
An unidentified individual, between the ages of 20 and 25, was struck by a northbound passenger train and killed instantly, according to Dube Arthur, age 41, who was speaking on behalf of Zambia Railways Limited Company.
According to Sharon Zulu, the Copperbelt province’s commanding officer, the accident occurred when George Phiri’s passenger train number 601, which was headed north, collided with an unidentified male who was reportedly on the rail line around 50 meters north of the Ndeke rail cross level.
She said the deceased was cut into two pieces and died on the spot.
“Police visited the scene and confirmed the accident. The deceased was wearing a red and green T-shirt with a Lucky Dube picture at the front, and maroon trousers,” she said.
Mrs. Zulu reported that the body had been placed in the mortuary of the Ndola Teaching Hospital where it is awaiting identification, a postmortem, and burial.
Police, according to her, have since started a file for the accident investigation.
