A critical shortage of beer has hit the Eastern Province.
A random survey by ZNBC News in Katete, Sinda, Petauke Chipata and Lundazi Districts found that people were now relying on imported beers.
Those spoken to by ZNBC news said the shortage has been ongoing for the last five months.
Wholesalers complained that those from Malawi have contributed to the shortage because they are buying the beverage in bulk.
And Zambia Breweries Coperate Affairs Director Ezekiel Sekele says the shortage is due to the expansion project being carried out at its plants in Ndola and Lusaka.
Mr Sekele says Zambia Breweries has cut production to enable the installation of new equipment which will enable the plant to increase its production.
He said Zambia Breweries has invested US20 Million in its expansion project.
Mr Sekele has told ZNBC News that the situation will normalise by July this year.
