Bonnie Mbuli has opened up about an experience that altered her course in “heavenly ways”
The actress says going on a retreat was one of the best decisions of her life.
“In May 2018, I went on the Anassa “I AM” Retreat. It was a life changing experience. This experience is right up there with the most transformative of my life. I can literally trace back the changes that took place in my life to this fork in the road,” she wrote on Instagram.
Bonnie added that the retreat not only helped her rest but brought her healing as well. “It was a time of healing, rest and meeting myself in the most tender and meaningful way. This is not an ad, I’m sharing an experience that altered my course in heavenly ways and I will forever be grateful for it. Take a chance and say yes to YOU, it’s so worth the investment.”
2018 was a year of reflection for the actress.
Three months after attending the retreat, Bonnie, who has battled with depression in the past, started a series to help her followers with similar struggles.
“It’s time to talk about it! I’ve started a series on my IGTV which will continue over the next few weeks, addressing the scourge of depression, check it out and respond with your questions and issues you’d like me to discuss,” she wrote on Twitter.
In one of the first videos she shared, Bonnie revealed that she wanted to create a space that would make people comfortable talking about mental health and depression.
“The more comfortable we become about talking about it, the easier it is for us to find the help that we need and find more information that we need… I am just somebody who’s wanting share my experiences in a meaningful way that is helpful,” she said in September.
