Chadiza man murders brother after a land dispute

A 37-year-old man of Chadiza District has been murdered in cold blood by his elder brother following a protracted land dispute.

Eastern Province police commissioner Geza Lungu stated that Simon Zulu of Council Farms in Chief Zingalume’s area was hit with a metal bar in the head three times by his elder brother Sindikani Zulu 42 over the weekend.

“Chadiza Police Station received a report of murder on 20-03-2021 at 1457hrs which is alleged to have occurred on 20-03.2021at 1300hrs from Friday Zulu aged 24 of Sindikani Zulu farm, Council farms area C/Zingalume District Chadiza who reported that his uncle Simon Zulu aged 37 of the same address was Murdered by his elder blood brother Sindikani Zulu aged 42 of the same address by use of a metal bar which is one metre long. The suspect hit the deceased on the head three times. This happened at the door steps of the suspect’s house. This was after a land dispute which started way back in 2015,” Mr Lungu stated.

He stated that the incident followed an exchange of heated words regarding the land issue.

“After exchanging heated words with the now deceased, the suspect entered his house and picked an iron bar and used it to hit the deceased brother on the head and at the back. The deceased sustained a deep cut on the back of his head. The suspect has since fled the village to unknown destination with a metal bar he used to hit his brother. Police visited the scene crime and found body of deceased facing upward and laying in a pool of blood near the door of the suspect’s house,” Mr Lungu stated.

He stated that the body of the deceased was deposited to Chadiza District hospital mortuary awaiting postmoterm and police have since launched a manhunt for the suspect.
