Chanda Kabwe, a former national coordinator for the DMMU, is questioned by police on suspicion of having stolen property.

Chanda Kabwe, a former national coordinator for the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU), has been questioned by police on suspicion of possessing stolen property.

Since then, Mr. Kabwe of Lusaka’s New Kasama neighborhood has received a Warn and caution statement on claims involving a stolen car.

According to deputy police spokesperson Danny Mwale, the warning and caution include having, among other things, a stolen car.

“Police have recorded a warn and caution statement from former National Coordinator for Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) Chanda Kabwe in a case of being in possession of property believed to have been stolen,” he said.

In a matter involving a Toyota Hilux with the registration number BAC 7395, among other properties that are being investigated as being the proceeds of crime under the company called Bellum, whose Directors are reportedly on the run, Mr. Kabwe, according to him, appeared before the Police Investigations Team today.

“The motor vehicle which is believed to be in his possession was intercepted along the Great North Road around Katuba area on April 20, 2023,” he said.
