All 139 of the suspects detained on Saturday in Lusaka’s Chibolya Township for a variety of offenses remain in police custody.
The suspects have remained in detention while the legalities associated with their arrest are taking place, according to Deputy Police Public Relations Officer DANNY MWALE.
He claims that the twelve illegal immigrants who were detained during the operation known as MARUDA are being handled by the Department of Immigration.
The 30 people selected for drug trafficking are being handled with by the Drug Enforcement Commission, Mr. MWALE continues.
Other arrests, according to him, included 88 for being idle and disorderly, five for having offensive weapons, two for suspected car theft involving two cars, and two for having property that was either stolen or obtained illegally.
