Chief Mpande Dead

The Mambwe chief MPANDE of Senga Hill District in Northern Province has passed away.

JESTUS SIKAZWE, the Senga Hill District Commissioner, has informed ZANIS about Chief MPANDE’s passing.

The traditional leader passed away in Lusaka’s Maina Soko Military Hospital yesterday about 19:30, according to Mr. SIKAZWE.

He claims that Chief MPANDE, who assumed the throne in 2012, has passed away at the age of 73.

Chief MPANDE, whose real name was Matthias MPANDE, was a lecturer at the University of Zambia’s School of Mines and a mineral economist.

In the MMD administration, he also held the positions of deputy minister of education and deputy minister of mines and mineral resources.
