Collaborative Enters Potato Farming

In order to start growing potatoes, a Lusaka-based cooperative has acquired a plot of land in Chikankata, Southern Province.

Following the embargo on the importation of the good, the First Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society has opted to enter the potato farming industry.

According to CHARLES MWIINGA, the cooperative’s chair, they have started with the initial 1.5 hectares, which should yield around 4,000 sacks of potatoes.

According to Mr. MWIINGA, the cooperative has also given more than 20 locals in the village of Kaleya the opportunity to work in the potato fields.
