Dr. Chitalu Chilufya and his 4-year-old daughter Survive Car Accident

Dr Chitalu Chilufya, a former minister of health, and his daughter, 4, both survived a catastrophic traffic accident.

But, his daughter suffered injuries and was hospitalized.

Yesterday evening about 19:00, the collision happened close to the Misisi footbridge on Kafue Road.

Danny Mwale, a police deputy spokesperson, verified the event and said it happened when a man named Michael Chimunjeche, 34, who was driving a Benz cut in front of Dr. Chilufya.

“Traffic Police in Lusaka recorded a serious Road Traffic Accident which occurred on April 6, 2023 around 19:00 hours near Misisi Footbridge along Kafue Road in which Dr Chitalu Chilufya and his four-year-old daughter sustained injuries.”

“The accident happened when 34-year-old Mr Chimunjeche who was driving a Benz Truck bearing registration number 1927 cut in front of DrChilufya who was driving a Nissan Patrol bearing registration number ABA 5707 with his daughter on board,” he said.

According to Mr. Mwale, Dr. Chilufya was traveling in the direction of the Central Business District as the Benz truck entered Kafue Road from the Misisi Shoprite sector.

He claimed that while the Benz Truck’s left rear rim and lights were damaged, Dr. Chilufya’s car received substantial front-end damage.

“Micheal Chimunjeche survived the incident without any injuries while Dr Chilufya and the daughter were rushed to the University Teaching Hospitals for medical attention,” he said.
