Covid-19 third wave expected


The Ministry of Health has projected a possible third wave of Covid- 19 as the country approaches the cold season.

Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Kennedy Malama has since called for continued adherence to health guidelines to avoid the third wave.

Speaking during the routine Covid-19 update, Dr. Malama said the country has recorded three Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.

He said 244 New Covid-19 cases have been recorded, out of the 6,248 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

Dr. Malama said the new cases recorded remain the lowest recorded on the globe.

He also disclosed that UNICEF has approved the procurement of an oxygen plant to be installed at Kitwe Teaching Hospital on the Copperbelt.

Dr. Malama further said UNICEF has procured oxygen cylinders which will be distributed to various health facilities across the country for Covid patients.
