The Ministry Health is concerned with the continued laxity in adherence to the Covid-19 public health guidelines by many citizens.
Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Technical Services Kennedy Malama says the levels of adherence in public spaces is saddening and places many at risk.
Dr. Malama has since urged Zambians to continue following health guidelines to avoid the possible third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary said this during the routine COVID-19 update at the ministry of Health in Lusaka.
Meanwhile, Dr. Malama said Zambia has recorded One Hundred and 49 new cases of COVID-19, out of the Five Thousand One Hundred 44 tests conducted on Monday.
He said new cases bring the cumulative number of confirmed cases recorded to date to 93 Thousand Four Hundred and 28.
And Government says it appreciates the collaborative work of the World Health Organisation -WHO- and the African Union Commission in the COVID-19 response.
Dr. Malama has acknowledged the various initiatives instituted by the W.H.O. in strengthening its mandate to timely detect, prevent, and effectively respond to public health emergenc
Dr. Malama was speaking during the 74th World Health Assembly.
He said the ministry fully supports the call to developing the W.H.O. pandemic treaty.
Dr. Malama added that the country’s response is anchored on the Multisectoral COVID-19 Contingency and Response Plan developed with technical support from W.H.O. and aligned to the Global Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan.
