Three District Commissioners (DCs) in North-Western Province have dispelled allegations of causing political violence in Solwezi.
Kalumbila DC, Robinson Kalota said District Commissioners are civil servants whose roles are to explain and ensure that government programmes are implemented.
Mr. Kalota cautioned political parties against fighting during campaign period but rather, focus on explaining their manifestos to the people.
Meanwhile Kasempa DC, Godson Sansakuwa urged politicians not to involve civil servants in their campaigns as they are non-partisan.
Meanwhile, Solwezi DC, Rosemary Kamalonga expressed sadness that politicians are trying to entice civil servants into partisan politics.
Ms. Kamalonga advised politicians to carry out peaceful campaigns and avoid violence.
The trio said this during a press briefing in Solwezi yesterday in response to allegations from the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) that they incited the fracas that occurred in Solwezi yesterday between UPND and Patriotic Front cadres.
Police are yet to release details of the crash between the two camps.
