Detonation of a tear gas cannister in Lilanda Township affecting several pupils police open inquiry

POLICE have opened an inquiry train to establish the factual cause of the tear gas can exploded at the Lusaka Water and Sanitation Company( LWSC) in Lusaka’s Lilanda Township.

Tear gas can was exploded at LWSC services in Lusaka’s Lilanda which are guarded by police officers.

The incident passed around 1030 hours when several pupils were affected by the irritant and were rushed to George Clinic and Matero Level one Sanitarium where they were attended to and latterly discharged.

And police deputy prophet Danny Mwale said primary examinations revealed that the can is suspected to have been burned by some mechanical causes.

He said the discharged annoyances caused fear in the girding community including pupils at Lilanda Combined School which is positioned near the guarded LWSC demesne.

“ Several pupils were affected by the irritant and were rushed to George Clinic and Matero Level 1 Sanitarium where they were attended to and latterly discharged. Their condition is reported to be stable. Police have since opened an inquiry train to establish the factual cause of the incident, ” he said
