DMMU pledges to take up funeral expenses for Mungwi road accident victims

The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) has pledged to take up funeral expenses for all victims of the accident which happened on Kasama-Mungwi road in Mungwi District in Northern Province this morning.

About 18 people are reported to have died while 13 injured in an accident involving a truck on Kasama-Mungwi road.

DMMU National Coordinator Chanda Kabwe has sympathized with the families of the deceased and Paramount Chief Chitimukulu in whose chiefdom the accident happened.
Mr. Kabwe says government will take up all the funeral expenses for the Mungwi accident as it falls in the category which can be considered as a disaster.

A team of DMMU officers has since dispatched to visit the funeral homes and facilitate logistical support.

This is contained in a statement availed to Diamond News by DMMU Senior Communications Officer Mathews Musukwa.
