Meet Mrs Phiri, a cleaner at Eden University who was awarded yesterday for her hard work and dedication to duty. She was one of the first 5 employees of Eden University.
Eden University owner Councilor Kelvin Kaunda writes:
Walking towards the front, she was helpless, she didn’t expect it, at least no one did. Mrs Phiri is a General worker at Eden university who is among the first five to be employed. She walked to the front after I called her name, in shock she never said a word, nearly collapsed but she kept going, she reached the front desk and could only seat down because her Blood pressure was uncontrollable; she wasn’t just expecting this.
There was a time when she could have given up, even salaries were a challenge but she kept going, she has swept every classroom at the university, swept every passage and walk way and she has cooked for every student who passed through Eden.
Indeed our works shall follow us even to the grave. I decided to surprise Mrs Phiri with a gift of K325, 000. 00 during this years Labour day celebrations.
