The ruling Patriotic Front -PF- has called on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to postpone all by-elections that are scheduled to take place in the near future until the country is declared Covid-19 free.
PF Secretary General Davis Mwila said this in a statement to ZNBC News, in which he has congratulated Thabo Kayando for emerging victorious in the Nangula ward by-election in Limulunga district of Western Province.
Mr Mwila has urged Ms Kayando to serve her people diligently because power lies in them.
And Mr Mwila has also congratulated Edmond Mpongwe for going unopposed in the Chumbwe ward by-election in Lunga District, Luapula Province.
He said the two victories are further testimony of the Patriotic Front’s nationwide popularity and evidence of the party’s foothold in regions once considered opposition strongholds

Zambia Top Opposition Party leader Hakainde Hichilema on Thursday’s flagged off the distribution of hygiene products in a bid to help in the fight and prevention of Covid-19 pandemic.

The donation included hand sanitizers, face masks and hygiene soaps.
