A vegetable farmer has gone into hiding after police launched a hunt for him for allegedly defiling a grade 9 pupil whom he has impregnated. Copperbelt Police Commissioner Mr Elias Chushi said the suspect, only identified as Bashi Georgina, in the matter is accused of defiling the girl who is now five months pregnant and gave her free vegetables after the act.
Chushi said the suspect has only being identified as Bashi Georgina.
He said the defilement is suspected to have happened between September and October 2020 in an area commonly known as Madimba, in Ndola’s Chipulukusu Compound.
“A woman reported that her niece aged 14, a Grade 9 pupil (2020) of the same abode was defiled by a male person only known as Bashi Georgina of unknown age and address. The victim is suspected to be having a pregnancy of five months,” Mr Chushi said.
He explained that between September and October, 2020, the victim went to buy vegetables at Madimba where the defiler only known as Bashi Georgina, who had a field of vegetables, forced himself on her and had carnal knowledge of her.
“Thereafter, the victim was given free vegetables (and) she never informed her guardians about what transpired, until they noticed her pregnancy. Police are pursuing the suspect who has fled to unknown place,” Mr Chushi said.
