The World Football Governing Body – FIFA has agreed to help resolve the impasse at the Football Association of Zambia – FAZ should the National Sports Council fail to reconcile the parties.
In a letter dated March 30th, 2020 addressed to Sports Minister Emmanuel Mulenga, FIFA has confirmed engaging the Minister on the matters at Football at FAZ.
Mulenga has confirmed to the media in Ndola that he has received a letter from FIFA indicating the world football governing body’s willingness to come in the country immediately the Coronavirus disease is settled.
He said according to a letter signed by FIFA Chief Member Associations Officer, Veron Mosengo-Omba, Zambians have been assured that the country will not be banned from participating in football activities as speculated by some sections of society.
Mulenga further said FIFA has also confirmed its position that the current FAZ executive committee shall remain in office and continue to manage football administration in Zambia until the date when elections will be held.
The Minister has since urged all football stakeholders in the country to exhibit unity as football is a sporting activity that brings people together.
Two weeks ago, Mulenga directed the National Sports Council of Zambia to sort out the crisis surrounding football house and the elections.

In Other News – Police Snap checkpoints suspended due to Covid-19
In the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kakoma Kanganja has suspended Snap Traffic Checkpoints until Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is secured for traffic officers.
This entails that only Permanent Security Checkpoints (Road Blocks) will be mounted as the Police Command has already secured PPE for the officers.
