Four armed robbers have broken into Fatima Cash and Carry Shop in Katete where they have stolen K52,000.
Eastern Province deputy police commissioner Paul Achiume said the robbers who were armed with iron bars and machetes tied the security guard with a mosquito net.
Mr Achiume said the matter was reported to Police by Levison Banda 52 of Kachipu village chieftainess Kawaza in Katete.
He said robbers broke into the shop and stole K52,000 which was left in the drawers.
Mr Achiume said entry was made through the door by damaging the locking system using metal bars.
He said the incident occurred on February 13, 2021. He also said unknown people broke into Trinity Church office in Chipata and stole property worth K7, 000. 00. Mr Achiume said the incident occurred around 04:00 hours on Sunday.
He said Michael Banda who is also a Church member reported that entry was gained through the window after damaging iron bars. Mr Achiume said no arrest has been made.
