Four people are detained for hiding drugs within an elephant sculpture.


Four persons were detained in Chirundu after it was discovered that they were transporting 4.01 kilograms of cannabis that had been compressed and hid within an elephant sculpture.

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC), acting through its Anti-Drugs Operations Department in Chirundu, has detained the four.

The four suspects are in custody and will show up in court soon, according to DEC Public Relations officer Mathias Kamanga.

“The suspects are Isaac Simfukwe, aged 26 of Kuku township in Lusaka, Mtendere East in Lusaka, Johnson Sakala, aged 29 of Klopper Park in South Africa, Reuben Daka, a driver aged 51 and resident of House Number 11/16 Meanwood in Lusaka and Mike Daka, aged 29 who resides at House Number 72, Mtendere East, Lusaka for trafficking in 4.01kg compressed cannabis concealed in an elephant sculpture,” he said.
