Lusaka fuel tankers explosion leaves 3 nursing serious burns

Three people sustained burns when three fuel tankers exploded in a garage situated on Mukwa road in Lusaka.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale says three males who are yet to be identified were rushed to the University Teaching Hospitals where they are receiving treatment.

Mr. Mwale says a tanker registration number DZ74CC GP around 11:00 hours caught fire when the generator they were using to transfer fuel from one tanker to the other developed a fault and ignited the inferno.

He says the other two tankers, bearing registration numbers AOB 3888 and DZ74BT GP which were parked near to each other also caught fire and were badly damaged.

This is contained in a statement issued to ZNBC News in Lusaka.

And eye-witnesses have told ZNBC News Crew that went to the scene said three men were seen running out of the yard where the fire started.

The witnesses narrated that other eye-witnesses tried to help the victims by pouring water on them before they we’re finally rushed to the hospital.
