Good news for couples working for the govt

GOVERNMENT has directed that married couples working for the public service, Judiciary and local government should not be seperated on account of transfers.

Secretary to Cabinet, Patrick Kangwa said in a circular issued that the new measure is designed to address issues of low productivity, rising broken families and to promote and uphold national values and principles in the public service.

“All what the affected workers need to do is to submit copy of conveyance of current work Station, proof of marriage and evidence of the occupation and workstation of their spouse,” he said.

Mr Kangwa said all ministries, provinces and spending agencies are advised that transfers of officers in the public service do not separate family units henceforth.

“Addressees must advise the affected officers who are interested in uniting with their families to apply for possible transfers through their respective service commissions or relevant authorities for consideration. The addresses should caution applicants to desist from providing false information because doing so would make them reliable to disciplinary action,” he said
