In an effort to stop stock theft and infections, the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock intends to forbid the movement of livestock without brand marks.
Animal Identification and Traceability Registrar for the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, CLIVE SIMWANZA, claims that now that this information has been digitalized, his ministry will be able to track back when a disease epidemic occurs.
According to Dr. SIMWANZA, this prevents the unlawful transport of animals and stops the transmission of diseases from afflicted regions to unaffected ones.
When he addressed farmers in the agricultural camps of Makunka and Ngwezi in the Kazungula area of Southern Province, he was speaking.
Dr. SIMWANZA urged livestock producers to review their brand names because doing so is free and because farmers just have to pay K100 for new personal brand names.
