Government has disbursed over 2 million kwacha for Social Cash Transfer beneficiaries in Petauke, Eastern province.
Petauke District Commissioner, Velenasi Banda has confirmed, saying the funds are meant for March and April 2020 outstanding payments to 10-thousand 534 households.
Ms. Banda was speaking when she flagged off the payment exercise at Mutumbata village in Petauke district.
Ms. Banda has since advised beneficiaries of the Social Cash Transfer to prudently use the funds to improve their livelihoods, as opposed to spending the money on luxuries.
And District Social Welfare Officer, Moffat Phiri said the social cash transfer payments in the district have improved the livelihoods of those benefiting.
Mr. Phiri said the Social Welfare Office is however continuously encouraging beneficiaries to prudently use the funds.
