UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has become the latest presidential candidate to pay nomination fees for the August 12 presidential elections. Others that have so far paid are Democratic party Leader Harry Kalaba, New Heritage Party’s Chishala Kateka, Leadership Movement’s Dr. Richard Silumbe, and Patriots for Economic Progress (PEP)’s Sean Tembo.
The commission set May 1-9, 2021 as the period for paying of nomination fees for presidential candidates.
Other such as Golden Party’s Jackson Silavwe failed to raise the needed K95,000 and opted for a parliamentary seat in Mufulira instead.
Other notable Presidential candidates who are yet to pay include PF’s Edgar Lungu, MMD’s Nevers Mumba and MDC’s Felix Mutati. Filing in of nominations will be from May 10th to May 15th, 2021.
