HH: Place an emphasis on revenue above spending.

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has urged statutory authorities and quasi-governmental organizations to put revenue generation first.

According to President HICHILEMA, it is crucial that statutory organizations and quasi-government entities make investments in sectors that will stimulate the economy and generate jobs.

He claims that in the past, public officials and controlling officers supported spending on things like the purchase of luxury cars and first-class airfare at the price of providing better services to the public.

President HICHILEMA has mentioned the 190 million dollar Presidential Jet purchase, claiming that the funds would have gone to areas in need.

During the special gathering of heads of quasi-government institutions and statutory bodies, which had as its topic “working together towards a single cause,” the head of state made this statement.

Additionally, President HICHILEMA stated that changes to the procurement procedures are necessary to remove barriers to more Zambians participating in tendering processes.

He argued that it is unacceptable that companies that have in the past failed to deliver fertilizer are still given contracts.

President HICHILEMA said that institutions should not rely solely on the Anti-Corruption Commission to tackle corruption.

Additionally, President HICHILEMA’s meeting with the leaders of quasi-government and statutory bodies is intended to ensure that they comply with the UPND’s transformation agenda, according to Acting Secretary to the Cabinet PATRICK KANGWA.
