Jay Jay appears in Lusaka Magistrates court for aggravated assault

Jay Jay is in police custody
Suspended Eastern Province PF youth chairman Emmanuel Banda aka Jay Jay was yesterday wheeled to the Lusaka Magistrates Court to answer charges of aggravated assault of on officers during an attack on Lusaka Central Police in July.
However, Jay Jay along with accomplices did not take plea because their alleged crime is only treatable in the High Court.
He is jointly charged with John Lungu, Maxwell Pito, Moses Silyonde, and Lyford Phiri for aggravated assault with intent to steal.
The five on July 6,2020 allegedly beat up Allan Mbewe a police officer and got away with his money.Jay Jay is in police custody
Banda and his co- appeared before Chief Resident magistrate Lameck Mwale had the charge of aggravated assault explained to them, which they understood but could not take plea.
Magistrate Mwale told the accused that they will appear before him on September 25 for mention because the Director of Public Prosecutions had not yet issued a certificate of committal to the High Court for trial.

After appearing Jay Jay who was confined to a wheelchair was wheeled out and lifted up to put in a vehicle.
