Ten people, including a Chinese national, have sustained severe burns after an explosion at Jinfer Steel Company in Kalulushi on the Copperbelt.
The incident happened today in the morning, and operations at the company have been suspended, pending investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
The 10 workers are being treated at Sinozam hospital in Kitwe.
Sinozam hospital Human Resources and Public Relations Manager, Justine Njovu has told ZNBC News in Kitwe that two of the victims are in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, management at Jinfer Steel has regretted the accident.
Company representative, Shitei Ye said management is ready to compensate the affected employees and provide all the necessary logistics during their admission to hospital.
And Kalulushi District Commissioner, Steven Kainga has cautioned the company to improve safety for its workers.
Mr. Kainga has also directed that the company should not open, until all the necessary safety measures are put in place.
