Lusaka Dynamos crowned 2021 ABSA Champions

Ten-man Lusaka Dynamos have been crowned 2021 ABSA cup tournament Champions after beating defending Champions ZESCO United 3 goals to 1 on post-match penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time.

Lusaka Dynamos have pocketed 6-hundred thousand kwacha as they squashed ZESCO United’s hopes of a Seventh Cup title.

ZESCO United missed three penalties while Lusaka Dynamos also squandered two Spot kicks.

Lusaka Dynamos goalkeeper MONGA NDALA saved one penalty and scored the winner while TADDY ETEKIAMA and Collins SIKOMBE also converted their penalties.

ZESCO United, who cashed in 250- thousand kwacha as runners-up, only managed to convert one penalty through international defender ADRIAN CHAMA while TAFADWA RUSIKE, BRUCE MUSAKANYA and FACKSON KAPUMBU all missed their penalties.

Having guided the team to its first ABSA trophy Lusaka Dynamos coach WEDSON NYIRENDA said playing the defending Champions was difficult but that his players performed well.

And ZESCO United Coach NUMBA MUMAMBA said following the defeat the team will now have to shift focus to the domestic League.

And Sports Minister EMMANUEL MULENGA who graced the occasion has congratulated Dynamos for winning the competition adding that there is need for the country to have more of such competitions.

Meanwhile, KELVIN MUBANGA won the player of the tournament award walking away with 25-Thousand kwacha while COOPER MUTHUSI was named man of the Match and walked away with 15 thousand kwacha.
