Her name is Brenda Victoria Kalungulungu who, at 23 years, is running Grid Electrical Electricians, a company she registered in partnership with two of her friends. A graduate of Luanshya Technical and Business College, Brenda, popularly known as the Electrician, did a lot of side jobs while in college to raise funds for her school needs. It was this money that actually helped her set up the business.
She says: “I’m a certified and fully registered Electrician who is fully depending on Personal projects, an Entrepreneur and A CEO of Grid Electrical Electricians which is being run by 3 Enthusiastic and qualified Electricians with hope of Growing the company and empowering more youths expecially young women.
I started my Electrical journey in 2019, I did my course at Luanshya Technical and business college ( I’m actually recommending this school because despite my hard work, the school team helped in bringing the best in me)
I later did my my internship with one of the biggest agricultural companies in Lusaka, working there always made me feel so proud of myself and I began to love and enjoy my kind of work, I always looked forward to going for work and get my tasks completed.
And during that time I was able to have side jobs whenever I had off days then I thought of registering my own company in partnership with two friends. And at a time my internship ended, I began to work on my own. And throughout this journey, I have learnt self employment requires patience, it requires honesty and my passion for my work I have told myself to never quit and keep pushing despite all the challenges.
I would like to encourage youths out there, both ladies and men, to step up, pick up a skill and never give up, venture into entrepreneurship. It doesn’t matter how dirty it makes you look as long as you are doing the right thing. I’m available for any query, I’m reachable on 0972621455.”
