Trial in a case where Zambia Army officer Lieutenant Nigel Mwaba is accused of killing renowned doctor Tasila Tembo will be delayed because the ongoing mental examination of the accused may take about three months.
Lt Nigel Mwaba’s lawyers told Lusaka High Court Judge Wilfred Muma that doctors at Chainama Hills Hospital informed them that assessment of mental status takes three months.
Dr Tasila’s body was discovered in a decomposed state near Mikango Barracks after the victim went missing for some days.
Lt Mwaba, who was reportedly on the run at the time his lover went missing, was later apprehended at Leopards Hill Memorial Park when he went to see Dr Tasila’s grave.
