Miles Sampa calls on members of the public to engange in DIY project
Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa has called on members of the public to help make contributions towards a Do It Yourself (DIY) project meant to enhance a healthy living style among residents of Lusaka.
The DIY project aims at helping to pave way for a safe haven for joggers and pedestrians to use.
“This morning (yesterday) I began another DIY big audacious goal and that is to pave a pedestrian,Jogging or bicycle lane alongside the Leopards Hills road from the Lakeroad Junction (Crossroad mall) to the Bauleni turnoff (Leopards Hill Mall),” Mr Sampa said.
In his Facebook posting, The Lusaka mayor says a stretch he intends to work on is roughly about five kilometer from the Crossroad Mall, covering Mary Immaculate Catholic church, Memorial park, ZNBC lanes, Bauleni, Leopards Hill Mall, Radio Maria and Bauleni Catholic church.
He said so far he has done a DIY about 100meters from across his home, given that charity begins at home.
Mr Sampa says he has already negotiated with a nearby brick making company called Bosphorus limited to which a paving brick will coat K2 per and K30 per Kerbstone, which they will deliver to the site once payment is made.
He has asked residents willing to help or contribute to the community project to pay direct to the paving stone supplier, Bosphorus Investment Ltd which is found on Leopards Hill Road opposite the Catholic ChurchLusaka Mayor personally takes care of the bars masquerading as restaurants

The mayor has called on residents of Nyumba Yanga, New Kasama, Leopards Hills, Ibex or any person to support the project given that it will also double and encourage a park scenario along the three cemeteries namely Old Leopards, Memorial park and New Leopards Hills.
He has further urged tenants of the Crossroads Mall and Leopards Hill Mall to support the project as it will increase movement and accessibility to their shops and restaurants.
