Ministry of Health takes Covid vaccination to bars and night clubs

In a bid to heighten the fight against the deadly Covid-19, the inoculation programme has been extended to bars and night clubs.

Joint efforts by the Ministry of Health, Lusaka City Council and Zambian Breweries have embarked on an ambitious initiative to roll out vaccines to patrons of social clubs.

Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Technical Services, Dr. Lackson Kasonka has warned that if numbers of people vaccinated does not reach the target, bars and night clubs risk being shut down.

He made the remarks through Director Health Promotions, Dr. Abel Kabalo at the launch of the initiative in Chawama.

Earlier, Lusaka Town clerk, Alex Mwansa represented by Director Public Health, Christopher Mtonga says the authority will not afford the business of chasing each other with those not complying, hence self-assessment is cardinal in keeping the entities open.

Meanwhile, Zambian Breweries Country Director, Michelle Kilpin has pledged to keep promoting responsive drinking habits that will allow patrons to keep safe and remember to get vaccinated against the pandemic.
