Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary, Bright Nundwe has implored ZESCO to reduce on the period taken to connect households to the national electricity grid.
Mr. Nundwe says will enable every Zambian to have access to electricity.
ZANIS reports that Mr. Nundwe said it is unacceptable to have people’s requests for power connectivity dragging and subjecting them to darkness because of slow pace of work by some officers.
And Mr. Nundwe said he has embarked on a programme to sensitize and remind civil servants to remain in their lane and not to engage themselves in active politics.
Addressing over 1-hundred workers at ZESCO Northern Regional office in Ndola, the Copperbelt permanent secretary said civil servants should focus on interpreting and implementing government policies and not to bring politics in public offices.
And in a vote of thanks ZESCO Northern Regional Manager, Robison Kabwe thanked the Permanent Secretary for the timely advice to his members of staff.
Mr. Kabwe said he will ensure his team continues implementing government projects to the expectations of the public.
