Over 1300 ex-miners given land in Njili forest

Over 1,300 ex-miners in Mufulira have been given land in Njili forest.

This is under the Presidential land empowerment program for ex-miners.

Association of ex-miners and Allied workers president Taulo Chewe has encouraged the land beneficiaries to invest in farming in order to contribute to the country’s food security.

And Mufulira District Commissioner Mike Manda has warned the ex -miners against selling the land.

Mr. Manda said the land given to them is a lifetime empowerment which should be secured so that it can also benefit the future generation.

Meanwhile, Mufulira mayor Gift Mushinge said the local authority is ready to provide services such as roads to the area.

Over five thousand hectares of land have been demarcated for ex-miners in Njili forest of Mufulira.
