Chingola Member of Parliament Mathew Nkhuwa has disclosed that he will not re-contesting his seat in the August 13 polls but will instead support his son.
Nkhuwa who is Energy Minister said he has decided not to re-contest the seat but will support the candidate that will be adopted by the party.
The Energy Minister said his son Maposa has been helping communities in Chingola under the umbrella of the Chingola Constituency Development Trust.
He said after notifying Patriotic Front structures that he was not recontesting the seat, the ruling party instead contacted his son. Nkhuwa said his son had been working with the Patriotic Front structures to make it easy for him to be adopted on the party ticket.
Meanwhile, some Patriotic Front insiders at the Secretariat have disclosed that unpopular members of parliament have been asked not to seek re-election.
The insiders have indicated that the Party does not want to take a risk of going into elections with candidates that have not performed in their constituencies.
