Police in Lusaka has apprehended a truck driver who was on the run after causing an accident in which 10 people died.
The driver of the Howo truck was apprehended by his employer and handed over to the police.
Police spokespersoon Rae Hamoonga said the suspect identified as Mwenda Tembo 36 is in detention at Kabangwe police post.
And Mr Hamoonga has disclosed that five people who died in the accident have been identified.
He said those identified are Treacer Ngona 39 of Ngwerer, Gabriel Phiri 44 of Ngwerere, Mabvuto Phiri 38 of Ngwerere Nathan Phiri 1, of Ngwerere and Mambo Mulako 54 of Lusaka West.
“The other four deceased passengers remain unidentified in the UTH mortuary.The following where seriously injured, Catherine Phiri 21 and Lotia Lungu of unknown age,” he said.
Mr Hamoonga said Phiri and Lungu sustained fractured legs.
