The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Media Director Emmanuel Malite has been detained at Luanshya central police and charged with Libel.
Malite was picked up this morning from Ndola were he went to attend to a court matter involving the party. Information reaching us is that police received a tip off from Saboi Imboela group that Malite was at court, hence he was picked. Upon his arrest and taken to Ndola Central Police, he was later in the afternoon transferred to Luanshya Central Police.
From afternoon Malite was kept at Luanshya Police station without charge as the police was waiting for further instructions from unknown sources, not until 20:00hrs this evening that’s when he was charged.
Upon being charged the police officers have advised that the case was opened in Lusaka at ForceHQ and due to justification Malite will be transferred to Lusaka tomorrow. The Luanshya police officers are waiting for the Lusaka police to come and pick him.
Counsel Tindi, NDC Luanshya District Youth treasurer Chileshe Mulenga spent the whole afternoon until night when he was charged.
UPND Alliance Roan parliamentary candidate Honourable Joseph Chishala and his handler Marriott visited Malite this evening after coming from campaigns and they have advised that Mr Malite is in high spirits.
