Breast cancer screening in Livingstone accelerates

From January of last year through the first quarter of 2023, the Livingstone University Teaching hospital tested about 430 women for breast cancer.

According to MUTUNA CHIWELE, a consultant surgeon at Livingstone University Teaching Hospital, 80 people were examined in the first quarter of 2023, compared to 350 last year.

Dr. CHIWELE adds that 12 of the 80 women who were screened in the first quarter of 2023 tested positive, and 112 of the 350 women who were screened last year were discovered to have breast cancer.

He recommended ladies to have regular cancer screenings because the disease can be treated when it is still treatable.

The public should take use of the screening services offered by the Livingstone Teaching Hospital, according to Dr. CHIWELE.
