“I am donating a bus to the Copperbelt University Students Union (COBUSU).

“Join me as I work to bring development to our people without leaving anyone behind,” said Lungu.

President Lungu has fulfilled his promise of giving a bus to the Copperbelt University- CBU students.

Early this year on the 9th January, 2021, President Lungu visited CBU where the students pleaded with him for a bus.

Lungu said his government will continue working with students from all institutions of higher learning.

Meanwhile, President Lungu says the welfare of students should be key in making sure that youths are empowered through education.

Speaking when he commissioned Teaching and Learning complex at UNZA which houses two Lecture Theatres with cumulative sitting capacity of 700 students, computer laboratories, seminar rooms, kitchens, ablution blocks and about 50 office spaces, Lungu emphasised that he would love to see the welfare of students being taken seriously.

His sentimets followed reports that there were former students still occupying university accommodation while genuine students, especially first years are grappling with accommodation.

He said this cannot be allowed to continue and must be stopped as it borders on criminality.

President Lungu said accommodation belongs to the university and that they should be the one to allocate accommodation to students and receive accommodation fees.

President Lungu said the project is an example of what could be achieved if Government worked together with the private sector to develop the country.

He said Government is encouraged by the efforts the University of Zambia has been making to improve its internal revenue generation capacity through the Private Public Partnership with the Graduare Properties Development Limited, the developer of East Park all.
