President Edgar Lungu Commissions The Kafue Gorge Lower Hydro Power station

President Lungu further notes that in less than seven years the PF has added more than one thousand megawatts of power to the National power grid.

He says such investments have now seen North Western Province and other districts across the country being connected to the National grid.

The President said this when he officially commissioned the first 150 megawatts generation unit at the Kafue Gorge Lower Hydro Power Station today.

At full capability the five units at the power station will generate 750 megawatts of power.

And ZESCO Managing Director Victor Mundende said his company has achieved a milestone by completing the first unit.

Mr. Mundende said the project is a game changer as it will improve the provision of electricity to citizens in the country.

He said President Lungu has made it possible for this project to be implemented.

And Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Li Jie said the project will promote industrialization in Zambia.

Mr. LI also said the investment will drastically reduce woodshedding in Zambia.

And Sino Hydro representative Liu Kai said his firm will is happy to conduct business in Zambia.

A Lusaka landlord has appeared in the Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty of burning her tenant with hot porridge. Rebecca Mwansa65, a teacher of John Laing compound, is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Allegations are that Mwansa on June 29, 2021, assaulted her tenant Bwalya Malekani and occasioned him actual bodily harm but denied the charge.
