I wish to congratulate all the men and women who have been adopted to stand as Members of Parliament on the Patriotic Front ticket. I’m aware that the past few months have been restless for you as you tried to sell your vision and the vision of the PF to the grassroots, which has been the party’s bedrock since the days of our founding father, Michael Chilufya Sata.
I also wish to congratulate the entire party for hosting a peaceful and successful adoption process.
The time for intra-party politics is now over, and we must forge ahead as a united front. Those that were not picked must respect the will of the people and the principles of democracy espoused by our party, and remain loyal to its leadership.
Remember ours is a race to build our country; ours is not a fight for power, but to lift our people out of poverty. We must continue on this journey that we started in 2011, and build on the many achievements we have made so far.
I’m glad to see a number of young people who have been adopted to represent our party. I have in mind 31-year-old Jean Chisenga Ngandwe, who is standing in Mambilima Constituency, in Luapula Province, and wish her well.
I firmly believe this – the rise of young people – signifies the rebirth of our party, and its renewed resolve to diligently serve the people of our beautiful country. I believe the team that I have been given is not only the best, but it is one that will bring us victory in August.
God bless you all and God bless the Patriotic Front.
