President Edgar Lungu says there is need for farmers to strike a balance between investing in livestock farming and the cultivation of crops.
President Lungu says people should not just concentrate on growing crops at the expense of investing in the livestock sector.
President Lungu said this when he met Chiefs in Namwala District of Southern Province.
The President also said government will ensure that it fights animal diseases countrywide.
He said the livestock sector is key to national development hence the need for it to be given support.
And Chief Mukobela said chiefs in the region will continue working with government for the benefit of the people.
He thanked government for providing grants to livestock farmers who are doing well.
The traditional leader also urged government to work on roads leading to chiefs’ palaces.
