President Edgar Lungu has called for a stop to discrimination against children with special needs.
President Lungu observed with sadness that society has continued to look down on children with special needs, making them to even shun sporting activities.
President Lungu said this in an interview with journalists on Friday at the Olympic Youth Development Center -OYDC- after taking part in activities to mark the International Day for Sport for Development and Peace.
President Lungu said children with special needs are just like any other child and must be supported.
The President took time to interact with the children and was part of the fitness session for Special Olympics athletes.
Among the sporting activities, he took part in included the wheelchair race and the one by 400 meters relay race where he outsprinted his opponents.
And President Lungu says the Football Association of Zambia should be left to sort out its own issues.
He said the government cannot interfere in the affairs of FAZ.
