President Edgar Lungu has said he has today held fruitful bilateral talks with his DRC counterpart Felix Tshisekedi. He said he and President Tshisekedi have agreed to expedite works on the Kasomeno-Mwenda Toll Road to enhance business between our two countries.
Below is his full statement:
I have held fruitful bilateral talks with His Excellency, Mr Felix Tchilombo Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo in Kinshasa today. In our meeting, President Tshisekedi and I agreed to expedite works on the Kasomeno-Mwenda Toll Road in order to enhance business between our two countries.
I also extended an invitation to President Tshisekedi to join His Excellency Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana and I at the Commissioning of the Kazungula Bridge, a joint project by Zambia and Botswana to the Commissioning in May 2021.
Our meeting further discussed enhanced relations between Zambia and the Congo as well as some pertinent issues relating to the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
